Over 150 people gathered at the Nicosia Municipal Gardens last Sunday for a lively celebration of Filipino culture, as part of the ongoing Unity in Diversity project.

The event, a collaboration between Solidarity CY, Mission Solidarity CY, the Federation of Filipino Organisations in Cyprus, and the European Network of Filipino Diaspora – Cyprus (ENFID-Cyprus), showcased the cultural heritage of the Philippines through colourful performances, traditional food, and a strong sense of community.

Attendees enjoyed live performances of traditional Filipino singing and dancing, filling the park with energy and enthusiasm. The cultural programme also included an interactive quiz highlighting key Filipino values and traditions.

“The warm hospitality of the Filipino community was evident in the generous spread of homemade traditional dishes, offering everyone a true taste of the Philippines,” the organisers said in a press release.

The Philippines Country Presentation is part of a broader series of cultural events designed to promote inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and community bonding in Cyprus.

The Filipino community represents one of several significant diaspora populations in Cyprus. According to the latest population census, as of 2022, approximately 18,000 Filipino nationals live in Cyprus.
