Yet another dramatic turnaround in weather conditions, as a low pressure system is affecting the Eastern Mediterranean, bringing rain in many areas around the island, isolated storms and possibly even hail on the last Sunday in March.

What’s more, there’s just a brief respite from the dust phenomenon that’s been plaguing the country over the last couple of days, as thin particles of hazardous PM10s will return to the atmosphere tomorrow, mostly in high concentrations, with authorities advising vulnerable groups to stay indoors.

According to the Met Department forecast, overcast skies are expected to bring local showers and isolated storms today, initially in the west, north and over the mountains and later inland, the south and east, with the possibility of hail in the areas of the storms.

Winds will be light to moderate, southwesterly to northwesterly, force three to four and gradually strong force five in windward regions, over slight to moderate seas.

No more than 21 degrees Celsius inland and in coastal regions, a significant drop, with nine over the mountains.

Milder weather, clear skies this evening, turning overcast at intervals. Winds will be light to moderate southeasterly to southwesterly, force three to four, over slight seas. Temperatures will drop to 8 degrees Celsius inland, 12 in coastal regions and 4 on the mountains.

A similar outlook over the next three days, with the possibility of isolated showers, mainly over the mountains, with storms forecast on Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to go up tomorrow, with a slight downwards turn from Tuesday onwards, near the seasonal average.
