People headed to Cyprus’s beaches today as temperatures reached 28 degrees Celsius, with forecasters predicting even warmer conditions tomorrow.
Many beachgoers told Philenews they were surprised by the rapid transition from the cold temperatures recorded just weeks ago to the current heatwave.
According to the Department of Meteorology, the high temperatures will continue and even increase on Sunday, remaining significantly above seasonal averages.
The weather forecast indicates that the warm spell will end next week, with a noticeable drop in temperatures expected by Tuesday.
The unexpected March heatwave comes as a welcome relief for many following the unseasonably cold period experienced earlier this year, though meteorologists caution that such rapid temperature changes are becoming more common.
