No new legislation is needed to regulate the issue of multiple pensions for officials. Just a bit of shame is required.
The Finance Minister comes out and declares that “no current official will benefit because they receive what is legally guaranteed today”.
Really now? Aren’t they already benefiting from what they receive? Is our concern merely that they won’t benefit further? And they have the nerve to tell us they’ve been taking us for fools since 1980.
Because when you say that “since the 80s, proposals have been submitted by political parties and party leaders, without achieving a solution to the issue,” what else are you telling us except that they’ve been stringing along the Cypriot people?
The same people who, incidentally, are supposed to be clever. But in the end, we’re a laughing stock, especially certain politicians whose disguises last all year round. Complete charlatans.
