Pope Francis has had a “calm” and restful night, the Vatican said in a statement on Sunday morning, as the pontiff continues his hospitalization for a battle with double pneumonia.
The Pope was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli hospital on February 14 after struggling with breathing difficulties for several days. He was later diagnosed with pneumonia.
On Saturday, the Vatican first described the Pope’s health as “critical,” revealing that he had been given supplementary oxygen and had undergone blood transfusions.
Due to his condition, Pope Francis will not deliver his customary message to the faithful today, as announced by the Vatican.
