Six members of a family were hospitalised with respiratory problems after a fire broke out at their home in Paphos, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Some family members jumped from first-floor windows to escape the blaze, which started around 3 a.m. local time in their maisonette property.

The affected residents included a couple, their two minor children, and the children’s grandparents, all of whom were taken to Paphos Hospital for treatment after inhaling smoke.

Police and fire service officials said the fire appeared to have started on the ground floor before spreading to other parts of the property.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze.
