A female footballer has reported sexual harassment by a member of her team’s coaching staff, according to a letter sent today by the Cyprus Footballers’ Association (PASP) to the Cyprus Football Association (CFA).

The allegations extend beyond harassment via messages to include specific physical actions, sources told Philenews.

In the letter, signed by PASP’s legal counsel, the players’ union has asked the CFA whether mechanisms exist to handle such cases, particularly regarding psychological and other support services for the athlete.

The young adult player has not yet filed a police report to initiate a criminal investigation, according to sources. PASP aims to handle the case carefully to both investigate the allegations and protect the player’s privacy.

The football association is awaiting the CFA’s response regarding available support mechanisms and procedures for handling sexual harassment cases in Cypriot football.
