A man was found dead aboard a Cyprus-registered cargo ship anchored at Copenhagen’s Nordhavn port, Danish authorities said.
The discovery was made yesterday when Copenhagen Police officers conducted an inspection of the vessel at the Oceankaj terminal.
The captain of the Limassol-registered vessel Alma had alerted Danish authorities after finding the deceased man on board.
In a statement released at 20:44 last night, Copenhagen Police said: “We currently have a presence on a ship at Oceankaj as a dead person has been found on the vessel. There are no indications of criminal activity. The next of kin have not been notified.”
The cargo ship Alma had departed from the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda on 31 December and arrived in Copenhagen on Thursday afternoon shortly after 16:30.
Tracking data shows the vessel sailed north of the Swedish city of Landskrona before changing course towards Copenhagen.
According to records, the ship is owned by Cyprus-registered Armidia Shipping Company Limited and managed by Malta-based Yustat Group Ltd.
