A nursing scholarship at Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) has opened new horizons for Lekoora Moses Saibulu, a 26-year-old member of Kenya’s Masai community.
Saibulu, now in his fourth year of nursing studies, received a full scholarship through TEPAK’s partnership with the Holy Metropolis of Kenya. The university has been offering full scholarships to African students for nursing and other programs for several years.
“CUT gave me the opportunity to get an education, and everyone here supported me with love and understanding,” Saibulu said in a university video. “The professors and my fellow students became my second family.”
Despite initial cultural adjustment challenges, Saibulu mastered Greek through CUT’s Language Centre and quickly integrated into the university community. He is currently completing his practical training at Limassol General Hospital, where colleagues treat him with the same respect as experienced nursing professionals.
The scholarship programme represents CUT’s broader initiative to support African students in healthcare education. Saibulu plans to return to Kenya after graduation to improve healthcare in his community, equipped with the knowledge and experience gained in Cyprus.
“I am truly grateful for this opportunity. Without their support, I couldn’t have reached where I am today,” he said, referring to the university community that helped him adapt to life in Cyprus.
