A Whole Life, based on the bestselling novel by Robert Seethaler, follows Andreas Egger, a humble labourer who, in his twilight years, reflects on his life spent in his isolated home-valley. As he navigates through the joys and hardships of life, the film captures the profound transformation of his serene farming community.
Set against the breath-taking backdrop of the Austrian Alps, the film explores themes of nature, progress, and the emotional costs of change, through stunning cinematography. It not only depicts a realistic portrayal of Egger’s personal journey but the broader impact of societal shifts, as the world undergoes radical changes, brought on by industrialization and modernization in the early 20th century.
