Petroleum sales edge down 0.4% in September

Total petroleum product sales in Cyprus fell marginally by 0.4 per cent year-on-year to 130,124 tonnes in September, according to official statistics.

The Statistical Service reported declines in several categories, including marine bunker fuel (-2.5 per cent), kerosene (-62.3 per cent), light fuel oil (-17.7 per cent), asphalt (-9.7 per cent), heating oil (-2.1 per cent), and liquid petroleum gas (-0.6 per cent).

However, aviation fuel supplies increased by 2.4 per cent, while heavy fuel oil sales surged 52.6 per cent. Petrol and diesel sales also rose by 3.8 per cent and 2.3 per cent respectively.

Petrol station sales showed positive growth of 2.9 per cent, reaching 57,914 tonnes.

Month-on-month, total petroleum sales increased by 4.4 per cent compared to August 2024, with diesel sales up 11.3 per cent and petrol rising 1.2 per cent, while aviation fuel dropped 8.8 per cent.

Total petroleum stocks at the end of September were 31.1 per cent higher than the previous month.

For the January-September 2024 period, overall petroleum sales increased by 1.1 per cent compared to the same period last year.
