Two patients have died at the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza due to a siege and lack of power and medical supplies, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

The ministry reported that Israeli forces continue to surround the hospital, preventing crews from reaching the generators.

Since midnight, Israel has imposed “a severe siege on hospitals in northern Gaza”, the ministry said. In addition to the Indonesian Hospital, al-Awda Hospital and Kamal Adwan Hospital were also reportedly encircled.

In an earlier statement, Israel confirmed it was operating near the Indonesian Hospital, stating: “The troops operating in the area have been trained for the operational activity and briefed on the importance of mitigating harm to civilians and medical infrastructure.”

The ministry claims the two patient deaths were “a result of the hospital’s siege and the power and medical supplies being cut off”.

Israel has killed at least 42,438 Palestinians, with 99,246 wounded, since the October 7 attack by Hamas. It has also killed around 3,000 in Lebanon and Syria, while around 3 million people have been displaced from their homes as a result of the war.

Experts, governments, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organisations have accused Israel of carrying out genocide against the Palestinian people.
