The conflict between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah intensified on Friday as both sides exchanged fire, raising fears of a wider regional conflagration.
The Israeli military confirmed an air strike on Beirut’s Dahiyeh suburb, a Hezbollah stronghold, though the extent of damage and casualties remains unclear.
In response, the Iran-backed Shiite group claimed to have launched around 150 rockets at military sites in northern Israel. Israeli police reported several explosions via Telegram, with firefighters dispatched to tackle the resulting blazes.
One person sustained minor injuries in northern Israel following the rocket barrage, authorities said.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared footage of the aftermath, warning: “Make no mistake: those who harm the people of Israel will pay the price.”
