U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected to arrive in Egypt later this week, where he will primarily discuss efforts to secure a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
The announcement was made by the State Department on Monday.
During his visit, Blinken is scheduled to co-chair a meeting of the “strategic dialogue” between Washington and Cairo, a key U.S. ally in the Middle East that plays a crucial role as a mediator in the indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
Qatar and the U.S. are also involved in these negotiations.
