Customs officials last week intercepted a freezer truck transporting over two tonnes of unmarked meat to the occupied territories through an unauthorised crossing point, violating the Green Line regulation.
The vehicle was flagged down near the Green Line following a tip-off.
Veterinary Services, called to the scene, confiscated the meat, citing lack of required markings and unsuitable transport conditions.
The truck was seized by Customs for violating the regulation which calls for commercial exchanges between Greek and Turkish Cypriots, but has set strict criteria for fresh produce.
The owner was charged a €200 release fee, while the driver paid an additional €500 to settle the case out of court.
