The 17 year old special forces National Guardsman, who is in critical condition after suffering heatstroke, will be flown to France for specialised treatment.

According to Philenews sources, the heat appears to have affected vital organs of the young conscript, who felt unwell on Friday during training and collapsed in a matter of seconds. He had enlisted earlier this week.

Following a medical council at the Nicosia General, it was decided that he must be immediately flown to France and all the necessary steps are being taken by the Health Ministry so a life-saving place can take off later today. A specialised centre is expecting him.

He had initially been rushed to the Larnaca General Hospital, but due to the seriousness of his condition, he was transferred to Nicosia, where he was placed on a respirator in the intensive care unit.

President Christodoulides is being kept abreast of all developments in regard to the National Guardsman’s health.
