A 17 year old National Guardsman from Larnaca who enlisted just a few days ago, remains intubated in the intensive care unit of the Nicosia General Hospital, after losing consciousness on Friday during initial induction training.
According to Philenews sources, the young conscript who joined the special forces, most likely suffered heatstroke in sweltering conditions, a combination of high temperatures and humidity.
The 17 year old told officers he felt unwell and lost consciousness in seconds.
He was initially rushed to the Larnaca General but was then immediately transferred to the Nicosia intensive care unit due to the seriousness of his condition.
Defence ministry and National Guard military officials visited him in hospital and were briefed on his condition, with President Christodoulides is also being kept abreast of developments.
