The Limassol CID’s investigations into the case of an assault on two 32-year-olds in the early hours of Saturday outside a well-known nightclub in Germasogeia are focusing on reconnaissance patrols and studying closed-circuit monitoring systems of various establishments.
A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case yesterday morning and was remanded in custody for five days, while two other individuals are being sought.
The attack took place in the presence of the two complainants’ spouses, with the victims receiving blows from the 22-year-old suspect with brass knuckles.
In fact, one of the 32-year-olds was seriously injured in the face and had to be taken to Nicosia General Hospital, as he sustained a jaw fracture.
According to philenews information, the two complainants, along with their wives and another friendly couple, seem to have had a misunderstanding with other individuals inside the nightclub for an unknown reason.
When the club closed, the group also discussed the charges with the management of the establishment. Subsequently, after everyone left the premises and spoke to a person responsible for the misunderstanding, which was resolved, an unknown young man pushed one of the 32-year-olds.
The couples left the scene and were heading toward the parking area when, according to the testimonies held by the Police, the 22-year-old suspect began taunting the two 32-year-olds. The suspect approached one of the 32-year-olds and, after taking brass knuckles out of his pocket, struck him, causing the latter to fall to the ground.
Then the other 32-year-old approached and, in an attempt to protect his friend, was also attacked by the suspect. After falling to the ground, he was attacked by two or three unknown individuals.
All this took place in the presence of the two complainants’ wives, who, in their attempt to help, shouted at the perpetrators that they had called the Police.
Following this incident, the two complainants went to the Germasogeia Police Station and reported the case, stating that they had been attacked by three individuals without cause.
From the investigations carried out, written testimony was obtained against the 22-year-old suspect.
He was arrested and brought before the Limassol District Court, which ordered his detention for five days.
During the interrogation, the suspect refused to answer the Limassol CID investigators’ questions.
