The Cabinet approved a proposal by the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare to continue paying an increased amount of the low-income-pensioner allowance.

Specifically, Marilena Evangelou, Deputy Minister, said that the Cabinet approved a proposal today by the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare to continue paying an increased amount of the low-pensioner allowance so that the increase in pensions granted by the Social Insurance Fund at the beginning of the year until the end of 2024 is not taken into account.

“In other words, the low-pensioner allowance will continue to be unaffected by the increase granted to pensions by the Social Insurance Fund. Low-pensioners, regardless of the increase they received from the Social Security pension, will continue to receive the low-pensioner allowance without any differentiation, without either reducing or cutting it, as the difference will continue to be covered by the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare. This decision has a cost of €4.7 million and aims to support low-pensioners,” she added.
