The much-anticipated Cyprus-Greece car ferry service sets sail today from Limassol, marking the start of a busy season fueled by strong ticket sales.
The Daleela ferry departs with 126 passengers and a full load of vehicles – 49 cars, 9 motorcycles, and even 5 pets.
This initial voyage reflects a surge in demand that has surpassed expectations. Bookings have skyrocketed to 8,500 passengers and 1,550 vehicles as of yesterday, already exceeding last year’s total ridership.
“Bookings have surpassed all expectations,” said Charalambos Manoli, director of the managing company Scandro Holding Ltd. He attributes this success to the online reservation system’s convenience and the growing popularity of travelling with vehicles on the sea route.
The positive trend is evident in sold-out sailings for all of August. While these peak dates are no longer available, opportunities remain for some June departures and a few July spots.
The strong demand reinforces the appeal of the ferry service, offering a comfortable and cost-effective way to travel between Cyprus and Greece, as passengers seem to appreciate the ease of online booking and the ability to bring their vehicles.
It’s important to note that Scandro Holding has opted to operate solely from Limassol this year.
The route will see 22 total sailings between May and September, with six trips in May and June, seven in July, and a final nine scheduled for August and September.
Fares remain largely unchanged from last year, with slight adjustments for child tickets and port fees.
The ticket price for a return trip from Limassol to Piraeus in a first-class cabin is €147.86 for adults and €93.56 for children, including port fees.
