The journalist, researcher, and MEP candidate with Volt Cyprus party Makarios Droussiotis returned to the issue of the lawsuit filed against him by the former President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, in which he claims damages of two million euros for the references in Droussiotis’s book State Mafia, this time making public the claim he received from the latter.

In a post on his personal social media account, Mr.Droussiotis said “here is Anastasiades’ demand for 2 million. On Monday I testified to the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority for six hours about the works and days of former President Nicos Anastasiades. I told everything I know and submitted dozens of documentary evidence.”
He added “When I returned home I found the service of process that Mr. Anastasiades had already announced through the press. It asks for punitive and exemplary damages over two million euros (!) and a court order to ban the books State Mafia and Gang.”
Droussiotis recalled that “Mr. Anastasiades made a public appeal to the Anti-Corruption Authority to investigate what is recorded in the books”, to add that “amid the investigation, the opening of which he welcomed, he is blackmailing the main witness with exorbitant damages and demands the withdrawal of the books”.
He stresses that “Mr Anastasiades’ blackmail will not succeed. I am ready to defend what I describe as well as the conclusions I record in my books”.
