25-year-old convicted for sexual abuse, rape of minors

Yesterday, a 25-year-old received consecutive 12-year prison sentence for sexual abuse of two underage girls, while he had already been sentenced to ten years in prison for rape and abuse of another schoolgirl.

The Larnaca Permanent Court of Cassation imposed consecutive sentences of 7 and 5 years in prison respectively for the sexual abuse of two 13-year-old girls.

These sentences are consecutive to each other, but they run concurrently with the 10-year prison sentence imposed on the 25-year-old in December 2022 for the rape of a 14-year-old girl.

In the present case, the defendant was found guilty by his own admission to a total of eight charges of sexual abuse of a minor and soliciting a child for sexual purposes.

The offences were committed on different dates between 2020 and 2021.

The proceedings before the Permanent Criminal Court were conducted behind closed doors for the purpose of protecting the victims, who were 13 years old at the time in question.

The 25-year-old also has a history of possession of child pornography, which was highlighted when he was convicted of raping the 14-year-old schoolgirl.

In that case, the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court had taken into account as a particularly aggravating factor the premeditation and violence he had inflicted on his minor victim.

The defendant had met the girl through an online platform and subsequently and on various dates between 15 September and 15 October 2021, he had abused and raped her.

The convict was identified in November 2021 when 14 image files and 6 video files containing child pornography were found in his possession stored on a mobile phone.
