The hearing for the four individuals accused of the murder of 55-year-old Thanasis Kalogeropoulos has been adjourned.

The murder occurred on the morning of October 30, 2023, in a parking area of a seaside restaurant in Yermasoyia, Limassol.

Defence attorneys have successfully argued for a postponement, citing a pending Supreme Court decision. The defendants are seeking to move the trial to the Nicosia Criminal Court, away from the emotionally charged atmosphere of Limassol, following intense public outcry and verbal assaults during earlier proceedings.

The court has rescheduled the case for February 8. The Prosecution has urged that the accused remain under detention, a request met with a reserved response from the defence, indicating a potential challenge to the custody terms.

The indictment is a laundry list of serious charges, including conspiracy to murder, premeditated murder, possession and use of firearms and explosives, arson, and theft.

Twelve of these charges are levelled against three of the accused, while a 13th charge of complicity after the act is reserved for the youngest defendant, a 22-year-old.
