A new allegation reached the Ecologists regarding the poisoning of animals.
Specifically, according to a statement from the Ecologists Movement, a mass poisoning of cats occurred in an area in Strovolos near the Lyceum of Ethnomartyras Kyprianos.
The gruesome incident has been unfolding for several days, stirring up the entire neighborhood, as every household found a poisoned cat in its yard.
The perpetrator placed traps and baits (shrimp, fish bones) with poison throughout the neighborhood to eliminate all the cats from the area.
This resulted in the death of at least 20 cats.
The incident was immediately reported to the police, evidence was provided, and the matter will be examined by the Animal Police.
Residents in the neighborhood were informed about the incident, and the information was spread that an animal killer is on the loose in the area.
The Ecologists Movement emphasised that the Animal Police must thoroughly investigate cases of animal abuse and killings with utmost seriousness.
In her statements, Ms. Anthi Mouzouri, coordinator of the animal action group, stated, “We live in 2024; as a society, we cannot turn a blind eye to criminal behavior against animals. We assure you that we will follow the case until justice is served.”
