Despite the warning from Agriculture Minister Petros Xenofontos that the government’s economic support proposal would be withdrawn if they proceeded with their event, cereal and potato producers are currently gathered outside the Presidential Palace.

In the last 24 hours, the responsible minister took the initiative and consulted with both sectors to provide assistance due to the increased costs resulting from the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine conflicts, as well as the ongoing pandemic.

It is noteworthy that the latest modified proposal from the government involves providing economic support of €4.3 million to the two sectors. Cereal producers will receive €2.65 million, equivalent to €6 per acre, while potato producers will receive €1.654 million, corresponding to €55 per acre.
