The trial for the case of the anti-migrant attacks in Limassol’s Molos was postponed today for November 6.
Thirteen defendants were brought to the courtroom, facing charges including participation in rioting, incitement to violence or hatred, arson, assault on a law enforcement officer, common assault and malicious damage, for the incidents that took place on September 1.
Most of the accused appeared at the Criminal Court today without legal representation but requested to submit applications for legal aid.
As a result, the court has rescheduled the proceedings to allow the legal aid applications to be processed. The trial will resume on November 6.
All the accused remain free on bail, providing a guarantee of 10,000 euros each. It’s worth noting that a separate procedure will be conducted for a 14th defendant, who was arrested one month later, also facing charges related to the attacks.
A strong police force was present both inside and outside the Assize Court to maintain order and prevent violent incidents and disturbances.
